All you need is a service telephone number and you can connect at any time you like by configuring your PCs Dial-Up Network settings. All calls are charged at local rate and there are no maximum usage limits on the service

Action Connection

It is possible to use a pay-as-you-go Internet connection without signing up. Simply configure a Dial-Up Networking account to use the appropiate telephone number below. The username and password can be anything you like.

Incoming eMail is not provided with the dial-up only facility. However, eMail can be sent using Action ISP's SMTP server: mail.actionemail.co.uk

Follow the applicable steps below to configure your PC.

Windows 95, 98 or ME:

  1. Click on 'My Computer' and select 'Dial-up Networking'
  2. Click 'Make New Connection'
  3. Type 'Action Connection' and click 'Next'
  4. Enter 0845 240 4004 in the telephone number field and click 'Next'
  5. You are now ready to connect to the Internet.

Windows XP:

  1. On your Desktop right click 'My Network Places' and select 'Properties'
  2. Click 'Create a New Connection' and click 'Next'
  3. From the four options select 'Connect to the Internet' and click 'Next'
  4. In the next box select 'Set up my connection manually' and click 'Next'
  5. From the three options select 'Connect using a dial-up modem' and click 'Next'
  6. Enter the ISP name as 'Action Connection' and click 'Next'
  7. Enter the phone number 0845 240 4004 and click 'Next'
  8. Enter your username as 'dial' and your password as 'dial' and tick all three boxes, click 'Next'.
  9. You are now ready to connect to the Internet.

 


Summary...

All calls to 0845 numbers are charged at local rate by BT.

This is ideal if you use the Internet for an average of less than about 10 mimutes per day. However, if you use more than this, especailly during the peek daytime hours, you may save money and make more use of the Internet by signing up for one of our unmetered products.

A back up connection is extremely useful in the event of your primary connection not being available. These 0845 pay-as-you-go connections do not have any fixed fees.
